I would like to know more about Parkway Elementary in Lewisville. Is it an okay school? I am mainly concerned about the high percentage of economically disadvantaged kids and the very low score on greatschools.com. Thanks!!

It's located in a pretty nice area, but feeds to Lewisville High School, which isn't really the preferable feeder pattern in LISD.

I've been told that, as a dual language student, you can choose the middle and high school you want so I guess that's not an issue....

I teach at a school that has about 65% free and reduced lunch. What is Parkway? Usually it's just fine.

It's about 50%. I've been told that a lot of economically disadvantaged kids means lower scores (which Parkway seems to have compared with other schools), behavioral issues, even hygiene issues ... stereotypes? I didn't grow up in the U.S. so any guidance is appreciated!

USUALLY the more economically disadvantaged students in a school, the lower the scores. It's based on the income of the household. Usually people that qualify are single parents, broken households, medical issues, etc. They score lower in part due to lack of parent participation at home. Not always, but most of the time. Below is the chart for qualifying.

I would have that confirmed by LISD before banking on that to get you out of the Lewisville High School feeder pattern. I'm not seeing anything about that here:
Innovation & Integration
Traditionally, LISD hasn't done a whole lot of moving between the middle and high schools. The FMHS and MHS feeder patterns are popular for a reason.

My child attended a Title I school last year in LISD. Also in the dual language program. Message me if you have specific questions. I didn't experience any problems due to the large percentage of economically disadvantaged students.
