What are you talking about? Florida isn't even close to being the butthole of the country.

Texans have been gently mocking Floridian stupidity forever. Where have you been?

Wouldn't that be kinda like Ray Charles mocking Stevie Wonder's blindness?

Dallas is what you make of it. It's a large urban area with urban amenities, but keep your expectations realistic and you should be fine. The weather is not the best, nor is the traffic. It's not a cultural mecca like NYC or Chicago or LA. But it's a nice enough place to live if you have an open mind and open heart and don't have unrealistic expectations.

I don't see how Texas is any less stupid than Florida...

You mentioned children - how about the museums, dinosaur park, water parks, Dr Pepper plant, Alamo, Riverwalk, space station, state fair, Six Flags, Ripley's museum... just a few ideas.

I will say that Texans can be hard to get to know, compared to a state like Colorado or Florida, but compared to New Mexico or California, it's just about the same. Many folks migrate here, then complain about Texas; can you blame Texans for being a bit cold at first?

Car accidents occur in every state.

It's just my opinion, but your post shows that perhaps your attitude has more to do with your unhappiness than the state. Why are you stuck here for 7 years? Even military orders top off at 4-5 years.
Maybe she is a guest of our criminal justice system. Being a 2006 post, that seven year term is almost over.

It's comfortable here in Dallas and not as cheap as people think. We pay for affordable comfort by being away from scenery, culture and excitement.
