Hubby and I are considering retiring to a suburb in Dallas. Which suburbs would have a cute little walkable down town? I like the homey feel of that kind of thing.

Downtown McKinney is great. It’s very busy, but once you park, you can walk around. Or, there are some great old homes in the neighborhood that are walking distance to the square. I am not sure about the pricing of the homes though.

Grapevine, Plano, McKinney, Arlington, Garland, Carrollton, Keller, and a few others have decent downtowns. You have choices.

Yes, Arlington isn't a very quaint downtown...

OP, you definitely need to be in Dallas ? How close ? Just to visit family in the area, use the airport, etc ? Lots of small towns around that aren't suburbs.

Arlington has a tiny downtown. For a suburb of 400k, it has to be the most underwhelming downtown in the world.

Many of the suburbs have a downtown of some sort...Grapevine and McKinney are my personal favorites. Plano has a good one too.
