I'll be leaving home at probably 7:00 am and leaving work at 6:00 pm.

I go kinda the opposite way you are intending on going and traffic is still insane, especially at 7:00-8:30am. Hitting 35 is always the slowest part of my commute, I've had to learn to use round about ways of going from 121 to 34 to George Bush. 35 is always always a crawl. It was so bad I changed my work hours from 8:30-5:30 to 7am - 4pm. My commute went from taking 1:15 on decent days to 35 - 40 minutes. If I leave even 15 minutes late though It adds about 20 minutes onto my commute. Even with all that 35 is still a crawl when jumping onto no matter the time. Heck I've seen 35 be at a crawl at 11pm before!

The suggestion of using Waze is also great, though be warned it sometimes will mess up.

I plan to commute to HV today from Addison at 5 pm. I'll know how bad it is. Agreed, I should have done this before I closed on the house but it's a bad commute wherever I move in the DFW area (that I can afford). My other options were Little Elm and McKinney and in my opinion HV is a lot nicer than the other two.

So I drove from my office in Addison to HV yesterday evening to see how long it would take. I left Addison at 5:50 pm and it took me 42 minutes to drive the 20 miles to HV. I got on 35E at Frankford and took the exit after Justin (407). I guess that's a manageable commute. I have a co-worker who lives in Carrollton and it takes him 20 minutes so I can't complain.

It remains to be seen how much worse the commute will get once school starts. I won't be leaving work any sooner than 5:50pm so I'm hoping that's too late for it to be affected by schools re-opening.
