Closing on a house in Highland Village soon. The traffic on I-35E going south from there bothers me. I haven't started making that commute yet but I hear it's pretty bad. There's news of major construction projects on I-35E so I'm hoping the commute from Highland Village to everywhere south of there gets better.

Anyone else share my optimism?

I can't imagine it would ever get better since the population keeps growing so much on the north side. Don't buy the house if you can't deal with the commute being equal to or worse than it is today. I honestly can't believe you would agree to buy a house without test-driving your commute. Good luck-

Addison. It's taken me about 30 minutes non-rush hour.

I have taken the route, just not at rush hour. It took about 30 minutes then.

Count on almost doubling that in rush hour.

It's going to take a lot longer than that in the mornings and evenings. There's not even a good back way to get to Addison.

Best suggestion is to be on I-35 before 6:50am or so.
