Just went onto the website and saw the other super retired. I obviously didn't know him but he was at his post for 14 yrs and seemed to lead a strong district. How do you think this will change things - for the better or worse?

It's definitely a changing of the guard. Doug Otto came in in 1995, and brought in a lot of new people and new approaches. When he retired in 2012, rather than doing a full-blown search, the board just replaced him with his right-hand man (Matkin), and pretty much all the staff stayed on.

That was a phony transition. This one is real. I'd expect most of Otto's people to leave over the next year or two (a lot of them are either already gone or near retirement age anyway).

Good? Bad? We'll see. They looked high and low to find the new guy (Binggeli), so I'm going to assume he comes in well-qualified and highly respected.

But yeah, after 20 years of "the Otto way", I expect to see Binggeli put his mark on things and make some changes.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Today's PISD faces a different set of challenges than 1990s-era PISD, and some new tweaks may be just what's needed.
