Question Just My Luck

We will be relocating to Texas within the next few months and have been concentrating our home search mainly on the Frisco & Allen area because my husband will work in Plano.

Today, we found out that the office might relocate to Dallas within the next few years. If this is the case, we have to redirect our home search. I need suggestions from you kind people. I need to know the best possible commute for Plano to Dallas. I assume if we find a house somewhere in the middle we will be OK if the office moves, or if by chance it doesn't move.

Many thanks for your kindness.

Could I ask where in Plano the office is now? And do they know what part of Dallas they are considering. Plano is one of the largest suburbs, with a large foot print and Dallas is also spread out.

Depending on where the office is now and where they are aiming for could mean a lot of different options.

Without knowing that, you might want to consider North Dallas or Far North Dallas or areas along Preston in Plano. That would put you in reasonable proximity to enough major thoroughfares that the office moving wouldn't be an issue. And they all have very nice areas.

Right now, the office location is W. Plano Parkway; the final office is yet to be determined. Again, the decision to move the office is not final - yet it does impact us greatly as far as buying a home. We can't afford to rent/lease until a decision is finalized as we need to buy a home for the tax writeoff.

You mention North Dallas or Far North Dallas - as I am not familar with Texas, could you provide me with the names of a few cities so I can check them out.

Thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it. I wish I had more details to offer.

More suburban firms are moving to downtown Dallas | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Business News

North Dallas (inside LBJ) is appreciating rapidly - what is the price range?

If you are worried about the traffic - forget Frisco.

Look into Richardson. Richardson is South of Plano and North of Dallas. You'd be in the middle somewhat and so if your offices moved to Dallas the commute wouldn't be so bad. Look in the Canyon Creek area of Richardson; very, very nice older homes.

Addison is one of the cities in the North Dallas area that might be a good compromise between Plano and Dallas. It's close to the Tollway & I-35, two of the north-south highways, it has great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, and Addison has plenty of housing opportunities, from condo, townhouses and duplexes to zero lot (garden) homes, single family homes, and estate properties over $1M.

$350,000-$400,000 for a new home - don't want resale. We are no longer considering Frisco because of the possible move.

There is a new David Weekly development starting in the $350s in Lake Highlands (north east Dallas, inside LBJ). Check out their web site.

Thanks, appreciate the post - we did take a liking to some of the Weekly homes in another area.
