Hi, I'm hoping you guys can help me with this situation. A little background. I am a mom with 3 young kids ranging 11, 8, 3 y/o moving to dallas end of sept. I just accepted a job offer at UTSW as an RN. I need an advice on good neighborhood to raise my kids with approximately less than or equal 30mins commute. I plan to rent for at least 1 year so as to get to know dallas better. school district and safe neighborhood is on top of my list. My budget is about $1500. I will appreciate any candid suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I think you would probably be happiest in Coppell/Valley Ranch, but $1500/month may be a little low to rent a 3 bedroom house. It's a popular area with the medical community. Maybe an apartment? You'll probably have to up your budget to at least $1800 to get something in Coppell ISD with 3 beds. Carrollton feeding into Ranchview HS might not be so bad.

Possibly Richardson? I don't know the rental market there as well.

The good thing is your hours will make any commute easier.

Isn't UTSW at Inwood & Harry Hines?

We have good number of UTSW employees in Plano and Richardson. It's a longer commute than Dallas and Coppell but guess they like it here as they get good schools and more options for apartments and homes.
