Pet friendly housing in Dallas
Hi,
I recently accepted a position in Dallas and will need to relocate to Dallas from WI in a few weeks. I am having a hard time finding housing in the Dallas area. The problem is I have 3 animals and no one is willing to compromise on pet policies like they are in WI. I have 2 small cats and a medium, well trained, non aggressive breed dog. I have found 2 complexes that will allow them but after further investigation have found that they are in pretty rough neighborhoods and being a single female I'm not sure I want to live there.
Does anyone here have any ideas of where to look or who to contact?
If not for 3 animals--good apartments in safer areas that will allow 2 pets or what areas to look at?
Thanks
Sara

Try looking for a rental house instead of an apartment. Where in Dallas will you be working? Many landlords here list their rentals on MLS.

Lots of landlords have been burned by allowing pets. You might check on single family homes for rent, as most of the apartment buildings (that you'd want to live in) will be owned by a larger company (not an individual) and they will be less willing to compromise.
Where is your job and how far are you willing to commute?

My suggestion is to not mention the cats. I have a list of apartments for bigger dogs (as that is what I have). I have it in excel format. If you would like it let me know and I will email it to you.

I personally think this is a bad idea... cats like to sit in the windows so there's no way to hide them. While you may get into an apartment this way... it's a real quick way to get evicted, too!

I have two Golden Retrievers and we have difficulty finding a good place in a good neighbourhood accepting pets, but we finally found one.
Try the Trails of White Rock and The Oaks of White Rock (near Garland and N. Buckner) and Winsted at the White Rock, for example. They accept pets. Lakewood Colony accepts them too but the apartments are in horrible condition and besides a huge noisy mexican disco, etc etc...
Well, Dallas is a great city. Maybe this is not the area where you are looking for? Those are apartments in East Dallas area. I recommend you to pick up the apartment guides from the supermarkets.
