I agree with you completely in CFBISD. There are alot of nice areas in Carrollton and I'm sure the schools that service those areas are probably as good or better than the same schools in the niegboring communities of Frisco and Plano.

However, perception is the largest part of almost any sale, especially in an area like North TX with so, so many homes for sale. And the 'perception' is that CFBISD is not good, hence why I used the politically correct term "challenged". I work with 2 friends that live in nice areas of Carrollton, both bought homes over 10 years ago and can barely get more for them then they paid once the Realtor/Selling fees are covered.

I would not recommend Mckinney or Allen for someone who is commuting to Addison. That commute would be tough. I'd look into Carrollton, Richardson, Coppell, and North Irving (Las Colinas/Valley Ranch). Even Lewisville could be an easier commute to Addison than Mckinney/Allen. All of those areas have good schools available.

The commute from North Irving can be pretty easy if you take the surface streets (Valley View) over to Addison. There are some upscale areas around Las Colinas that would have salons that you could work at as well.

I've commuted from this area in the a.m. to Addison even using I635 to the N. Dallas Tollway consistently in 30 minutes. It's all in the timing in the a.m... you have to leave at least by 7:30... or after 8:30... otherwise you'll get stuck in the congestion at the I35/I635 interchange.

As far as salons, have you seen this list for Dallas?

Default Mckinney , Richardson, Carrollton Texas

I know it may be too late, but I just came across this. I have lived in Carrollton for 14 years and my kids went through the lewisville school district (which I think is the best-between the 3 cities). I have been really happy. We live close to everything. Easy access to DFW airport, there is a mall 10 minutes down the road, Plano is just east (15minutes), Lewisville is 15-20 minutes west. Now that our kids are almost out of the house, we plan to move out in the country north of McKinney on some land; therefore we are selling our house. But we have enjoyed living in Carrollton!

Hello just wondering if you found a great area to live. My family (AA) are relocating to the Dallas area and are looking for a great school first and a great neighborhood with diversity.
