Hi -

I live at Frankford & Stonehollow East of that area. Are you looking at apartments or houses near the Midway intersection? I guess it depends on expectations, since everyone's definition of what is 'nice' can vary.

Overall, that intersection isn't a bad area to be in. It's the far NW quadrant of the city of Dallas, so it has a more suburban feel than Dallas South of 635. If you travel a little further West on Frankford, you're in Carrollton. If you travel North on Midway, you're in Plano, so it's convenient if you want to live within close proximity to these areas for work, family etc. Additionally, you've very close to both the George Bush and the Tollway, so you have easy access to travel East/West or North/South from that location (with the exception of rush hour).

I will say (and I don't mean this offensively), a lot of the apartments in that general area are not the nicest. Many are known for high crime (look up the crime map and statistics). For houses, our realtor told us that once you go West of the Tollway off Frankford, the homes do not have the same resale value as the neighborhoods East of the Tollway on Frankford. I would be leery of buying a home there solely because of all the crime in the complexes and neighborhoods along Midway.

Many apartments in this zip feed to Plano West, so that's a good deal if you have kids. However, there are safer & cleaner areas to live in (IMO) for apartment living. For houses, I would stay East of the Tollway or maybe target a different area.
