Hi,

I am moving with my wife and 3+ yr old girl child from Charlotte to Dallas next week.
My work place would be at around Dallas Pkwy,N Dallas, Zip code = 75254
I'm wondering if you can please recommend any good apartments preferably with some good things like as follows:

1) Proximity to good preschools (not day care) in vicinity - Most important for me as this will drive my decision
2) Good Indian community
3) Kid friendly -- preferably play area / play park inside the apartment complex
4) Proximity to Dallas Parkway N Dallas, Zip code = 75254
5) Washer & Dryer inside the unit.

With Many Thanks,
Jain

That area does have a lot of Indians, but it's not really close to north Dallas. He'd have a fairly long commute to work every day. Most of us don't know anything about specific apartment complexes, and what they offer. It's best to use an apartment locator as they have access to that information.

There really aren't private preschools that aren't day care centers, especially for a 3 year old. Once she turns 4, there will be more options.

Coppell, the Valley Ranch area of Irving, and Frisco are ground zero for Indian immigrants in DFW. That's not to say there aren't other large communities in other suburbs, but it seems to me like most Indians new to this area make a beeline straight for one of those three suburbs.

It's worth mentioning that out of all of my Indian colleagues at work (and there are MANY), there is only one who does NOT live in Frisco or isn't currently building a house in Frisco.

Frisco sucks for commuting to that area. For that matter, so do Coppell and Irving. So just pick the area you like the best and be sure to get an early start. 635 and DNT are both a beating.

I suggest you move close to work. There are Indians living all over the Dallas area and you will have time after your move to find people to socialize with. Traffic is a big factor in the quality of life here. Also, you can find pre-schools after you arrive but the Da Vinci School is a highly reputable preschool. I believe it has a long waiting list. The Callier School also is very highly regarded. It was developed for deaf children but also takes hearing preschoolers so that all the children are "mainstreamed".

For apartments with washers & dryer in the unit that are close to work:

Hyde Park at Montfort
Preston Pointe
Preston Bridge

If you'll be working in north Dallas then look into far West Plano for a short commute. Lots of good preschools, top public schools and nice apartments with some Indian IT families. This puts you at a 15 minute drive from Russell Creek area(Indian/Asian central) for weekend activities/shopping/dinning with fellow Indians.

I've sold many Indians houses in Carrollton. That will be your shortest commute verse all the other places mentioned.
