My children's teacher spoke to my spouse and I about having our kids assessed for Gifted and Talented. We have submitted the survey and forms back to the school.

Has anyone's kids "prepped" for this ? A google search reveals that "prep" is common in the NYC area, where many kids compete for a few GT slots. How about here ? Any prep courses/etc recommended ?

Thank You

Prep for standardized tests of all kinds is common.

What test(s)?

At those ages I'd go very easy on any test prep.

No, you don't need to prep for Gifted and Talented testing. And do not make a big deal about it to the kids. These are not like typical standardized tests that you could prep for anyway.

Think about what you just wrote for a second.

I agree that a verbal IQ test might be more difficult to prep for than say a PIAT but strategies exist to improve scores nonetheless.

Heck the Mensa people suggest taking practice test - even for kids - before taking the real thing.

Why don't you tell her how to prep then instead of repeating your non answer.

OP. Don't worry about it at all. My son and daughter were tested at age 8. We didn't treat it any differently and next thing we knew we received letters for both admitted in the GT program.
