From the HPISD website:
>>18 Highland Park High School students were named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In addition, 29 students were named Commended Students. Four students were recognized in the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program. <<
Also, a couple of years ago, a black female student was voted the HPHS prom queen. Times are a changin'.

The best description I every heard for Highland Park is "The Bubble". They live in the center of Dallas but are isolated from all the bad things that happen in the inner city. It's a really good description of the place.

I don't think saying there are no blacks or hispanics in Highland Park has anything to do with Highland Park being racist. Those are just the facts.

So I take it then that you know every single person living in Highland Park and their racial background? I know someone who's lived in Highland Park for years, and he told me that a wealthy black woman from New York moved there in the '70's.
According to the 2000 census, there was a .32% black population in Highland Park. That means that there are atleast 20 blacks living in Highland Park. How this equals no blacks, as you've just argued, is beyond me.

One black women living in Highland Park during the 70's is not what I would consider to be blacks living in Highland Park. Since she is African and a young African girl was prom queen in 2007 I will assume that she is her daughter. Based on the 2000 cenus (most recent I can find) Highland Park is 97.9% white. Asian make up around 2% while Black, Hispanic, Native American etc make up the remainder. I will still stand my statement that there is no diversity in Highland Park based on the numbers. For the record do not consider Highland Park racist because of the numbers. I am simply stating what I consider to be the facts. Highland Park is a great place to live and they have outstanding schools. I have lived in this city long enough to know that it is not the United Nations by a long shot. I personally would never call 2% diversity. Maybe your definition is different than mines.

Look, I have friends who attended HPHS in the '90's and up until recently, and there have throughout the years been a few blacks attending. No, this is not diversity in the true sense of the word, but to suggest HP is lilly white, it not exactly accruate - there are blacks and Hispanics living there.

Hmm attacking me and calling me gay is what I would call a typical HP reaction. That is why others dislike Highland Park people so much. With all their "high class" and "high achievement" why haven't they ever read Robert Burns?
