Default brand new school for my child

We are looking to move to North Dallas. We are looking at several cities but would like a master planned community. We liked the way Paloma Creek (in Denton) community looks and it has a builder we like, but it will have a school opening up in the Fall of 2008. Our oldest will be in Kindergarten in the Fall, so obviously we have not done public school before. How do you all feel about having us go to a brand new school that obviously has not been rated? Also if you live in Paloma Creek can you please give any personal opinions about the community? Thanks for everything!

I don't feel good about you going to a brand new school. There might be crazies there. Please don't do it...

Brand new schools can be exciting. I opened a brand new school 4 years ago. We have an established tradition among the school and the children that started there are awesome. They love coming to school.

Most schools are built in order to relieve over crowding in neighboring schools. For example if the over crowded school has around 700 kids, then the new school opening takes about 300-350 of those kids. So as you can see the students for the most part are not really starting over except for the building. The newer schools are usually well stocked. This hasn't always been the case. We opened a school that had lap tops in classrooms, a complete computer lab, state of the art carts complete with computer, document cameras, etc. The kids want for nothing. We even have a well stocked library. We are now at an over crowded point again and our district is opening another school to relieve our population. We will lose some wonderful children and teachers to this school but they will have the opportunity(s) we have had.

As for the area you have mentioned I think you will find it to be kid friendly and hopping. I've know many teachers to move to that area and they love it.
