Pray there are not more deaths. There are lots of apartments that area that have been destroyed. It's damage area is only 5 minutes from me. I imagine it had to be really scary if you were at Bass Pro Shops when the storm hit.

Sadly, that's not the case... they have now confirmed 11 total... 8 in Garland, 2 in Copeville and one in Blue Ridge.

The live aerial views being shown are unbelievable (see
Live Video from Chopper 5), utter devastation in some of these neighborhoods! Never in 36+ years have I ever seen or heard of anything anywhere close to what has now taken place in the DFW area!

Folks, stay tuned today for future weather updates as it seems that you are, unfortunately, not out of the woods yet.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you, please take care and stay safe!

.

This makes me think of all the times I've seen people post "don't worry about tornadoes here" comments.

Deadly tornadoes can and do happen in DFW. They're not dictated by geography (I've seen people say they only happen in Lancaster, etc..), and clearly they're not restricted to specific months. They're dictated by when and where the weather systems happen to collide.

Yes, everyone's chances of getting hit are statistically slim, but to downplay tornadoes is irresponsible and dangerous.

The death toll was at 11 the last time I checked.

I think that number will be higher since it happened at night. Hopefully people are out searching through the debris for injured people now since the sun is out so they can get some treatment ASAP
