Hello Everyone.

We are a family with a 8 yr old kid moving from India to Irving late Feb.
My work place would be at West Las Colinas Blvd.75039
I was wondering if you can recommend any good apartments preferably with some good things like as follows:

1) Good Indian community
2) best schools in Irving vicinity
3) near to public transport , commute to office and downtown(have to take driving license)

Thanks,
Vicky

There is bus service but you will eventually want to get a car.

Thanks Christie.
I am told that there is 30 days waiting period to write motor driving license test.will bus service suffice for time being? Or I have to depend on cab unless I get driving license to buy a car?

You should be able to drive on your Indian license for the first 3 months or so. Just make sure your license is in English. If not, get an IDP.

The area isn't really walkable. (I work in the area.) Traffic is VERY heavy during rush hours, and the drivers aren't used to seeing pedestrians or bicycles. You also will be a long walk from a grocery store. Basically, you need to be prepared to ride the bus a lot. You can buy transit passes that are good for a month, and you will need to do that.

Yes, there are driving schools here.

There are driving schools, but while you study that, maybe use Uber or Lyft to help you get to work and back. Maybe carpool with a co-worker if they live close to you. Living in Irving, you'll likely need a car. Good Luck!

You might want to learn car as soon as possible. Public transport will be tough as the buses are not frequent.

There is no 30 day waiting period. You can write the test online anytime and collect your learners permit. As soon as you pass driving test, you will get licence.

There are many driving schools in Irving and if you are eager to learn, it would take less then 30 days to get your license.

Living here without a car with family would be very tough. Good luck.
