Hello Texas!!!!
My family is planning a move to Flower Mound and finding a church home is priority. A church is naturally an extension of our family and is something we desire to be a part of once we move. In order to avoid dragging the kids around town to "church shop", I'd like to get feedback.

I noticed several churches in the area, but they appear to be Lutheran, Protestant, Baptist, etc. We are Non-Denominational Christian. This means we enjoy churches such as: Calvary, Vineyards, etc. Does anyone out there know what I am looking for? Can you direct me?

We are really looking forward to planting some firm roots there and are very excited to be a part of beautiful Texas! You all are blessed to live in such a great place. We cannot wait to call Texas home

Side note: We are actually Democrats, not uber conservative; will we fit in?

I don't know anything about the church situation in Flower Mound, but I'll tell you what, there aren't many of us Democrats around. I recently came out of the closet at work and admitted I was a Democrat. It was a bit risky, but I decided I didn't want to live like I did at my last job and stay silent for all the Clinton bashing. There were about 5 of us at the last job (out of 120) and we kept it on the down low. At this current job, I was asked directly by my boss who I was going to vote for and I said Hillary. They were shocked. Even though I live and work in Dallas County which is supposed to be more liberal than Collin or Denton County I still get a lot of grief.

When you get the Democrat election signs for your yard, get a few extra because the Republicans will come steal them from your yard overnight.

GirlsRUs, if you are looking for a strong church in Flower Mound, give Faith Lutheran a try (Faith Lutheran Church Flower Mound). I realize you are coming from a nondenominational background, but I think you may find it's a good fit.

My wife was in a nondenominational church as well before we met, but we are now members of another ELCA Lutheran congregation in Dallas and we love it.

Faith is a great church - lots of activities, good kids' programs, and lively worship - the traditional liturgical service is at 10:00, and the contemporary/praise and worship service (which is probably what you are used to) is at 11:30.

Another plus is that you'll probably find a wide spectrum of political views; there are plenty of Democrats in our Lutheran church simply because so many of us are transplants from other parts of the country. Everyone is welcome!

Wow! You need to visit Fellowship Church in Grapevine. They actually have several campuses in the DFW area. Ed Young Jr. is the pastor.
Another great non-denom. church is Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. Chuck Swindol is the pastor. Great teacher!

Question Good Starts

Thank you for giving me a head start! I appreciate your feedback.

If anyone else has anything to add, please contribute.

Are the church congregations out there large or small? Do you get lost in the crowds or get to know your fellow members easily?

Are there church activities and socials or do they leave it up to you to get involved in bible studies, etc?

I don't go to church, but I have I have a lot of friends who go to Fellowship. My best friend took me there a few times, though the building is extremely daunting (it's HUGE), it was a nice service. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they have home teams, where families from one certain area of town get together and things on the weekends. My friends really enjoy going there.

Smile Great church for anyone! :)

Hi GirlsRUs....Welcome to Texas!
We attend a non-denominational church in Lewisville. Just on the corner of Garden Ridge and Main Street (also known as 1171), the name of the church is Garden Ridge Church of Christ - On the border of Lewisville and Flower Mound. Please feel free to visit us any time. We've attended there for about 15 years and continue to enjoy it. We have a very active youth group if you have children of all ages, and are looking for such, this is the place! Also lots of activities for the women and of course the men. If you'd like more information about it, you are welcome to contact me via email. Hope you have success with your search.
