Good weather, good food, many of the people are conservative but city savvy which is a good mix.

For me the #1 reason is simply the familiarity of home, but of course also the sports (Diehard Cowboys, Mavs, Rangers and Stars Fan).......but we got all the huge lakes (yes theyre manmade but so what?!), all the amenities of city life + country life combined......Great food and shopping choices....Mild winters, awesome storms, I could go on and on about pro's of DFW......the only con would be miserable summers....but id still gladly take a horrible DFW Summer over a Yankee winter anyday!!

No snow shoveling or covering your face with scarves and hoods in the winter.

Better income/living expense ratio compared to the big cities on the coast. The housing expenses have outpaced many cities, it's still not that bad. You won't find a Yelp employee whining to the CEO about the rent and pay in San Francisco.

The 30min drive to Fort Worth..... Lol, kidding.

Its a big metro with tons to do. Lots of money to be made with a low cost of living. Beautiful homes. It's easy to live the american dream here and you can pretty much get anywhere taking a direct flight from dfw. Tokyo, Bogota, London included.

  1. Airports.
  2. Availability of Chicago style pizza.
  3. Cable TV, Satellite Radio, and the internet.
  4. Most Targets are Super Target.

I guess that is accurate about the snow shoveling. If it comes, the reaction seems to be wait for it to melt instead of shovel it. However, with the winds, I still think you need jackets, and also gloves to keep your hands from turning raw.

Space.

I've lived in other major metro areas and traffic congestion, smog, higher costs of living due to more people packed into a smaller area... Dallas is a breath of fresh air in that regard. Our roadway system is quite good, even with the huge numbers of people that have been moving here.

The northern suburbs have great school districts, which make most of them great places to raise a family. We all nitpick as to which is "tops" around here by splitting hairs about SAT scores and stuff, but there are so many school districts across the nation that do not even come CLOSE to the level we have here.

Sports. Between the Cowboys, Stars, Rangers, Mavs... If you're a sports fan this is a great city to live in. Not to mention all the sports bars and breastaurants out there that cater to someone wanting to watch a game.

Travel. It's awesome to be able to be in Cancun in 2 hours, Vegas in 3, or Miami in 2.5.

Housing. Housing prices have gone up dramatically, but our housing prices still represent a significant discount compared to other metro areas as far as price/sq ft. I really can't think of any other city where you get so much house and land for your dollar, while still being close to all the amenities of Dallas and all the other benefits here.
