I hail from the desert heat of El Paso, Texas where the summer weather is hot and dry...I have been in this area on and off for 15 years plus...it is hot and humid here during the summer..but I guess I have gotten used to it..since I am a Native Texan..plus..I usually leave in the summer to take my vacation elsewhere since I teach...it is time for me to relax and enjoy myself..spend some time with the family..and more..

It's irritatingly hot to be nowhere near any sort of beach, but still tolerable to be outside in the shade or in the pool. The evenings are quite lovely when the sun goes down.

I think the biggest shock to you will be the night time temps. Going out at 8,9,10PM and having the temps still in the 90s sucks.

So awful that I am re-directing all of my limited disposable income into relocating to the mountains for July and August. And we have a pool.

Yes, the summers are *that* bad.

I moved to Dallas from Denver and had heard all the horror stories about the heat before I moved. It is definitely HOT, but humidity was not too big of an issue. Trust me, I wear my hair in an afro. Humidity is not my friend. But Dallas wasn't bad on humidity IMO. I don't mind a little bit of humidity. What got on my nerves about DFW was how long the heat stays around. Too Hot for Too Long. I think you can get used to it though.

95-100 degree days are common here during the hot period, but the heat does not feel as bad as it did in Phoenix. Sure, there is some humidity, but not as bad as Miami or Houston. The lack of humidity relatively speaking was one of the more pleasant surprises I discovered upon moving Dallas.
It is hot in Phoenix where I reside. I was looking to visit some friends in Dallas this summer, but was concerned about the heat and humidity. To hear that you prefer Dallas' summer weather was surprising and encouraging. I may not melt after all!

I grew up in Texas and am now on the East Coast and Dallas summers are MUCH nicer for me than the humidity on the east coast. Its hot...but its not oppressive with humidity.....(well, not compared to the mid-Atlantic, anyway)

Somehow the sun really bites into the skin here. I have been in hotter places than this, but the sun here in brutal!

40C-45C.. is mostly where the mercury stays.
