Winter: I would say in Dec, Jan, Feb it's in or around the 40s. You will have the occasional day where it gets pretty cold (20s) but usually there are only several a year. Some days it gets up to 50 or 60 or maybe even 70 during these months.
Summer: late May, Jun, July, Aug, early Sept...it's hot. Expect 100s everyday in July and August and be thankful when its 98.
It's fantastic here the 7 months that it is not hot.
As for snow...it might "snow" once or twice a year. It's not really snow though. The roads just ice over and the local news looks like a nascar race.

So true. I do love the mild temperatures in the winter here as I get older. I'm just not able to cope with colder winters anymore, and I'm only 45!

As my dad likes to say, we have all four seasons here in Texas. Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer and Christmas break.

The weather can actually depend on where you live in the DFW area..especially winter b/c it's a good 50 miles from the northern metro areas (Denton, McKinney)to some of the southern areas (Mansfield, Burleson). We live in a far northern suburb near Denton and we've dealt with snow at least once or twice a year for the last 6 years (a couple of yrs ago, we got like 5 inches up here)! It can be snowing/icing up here while my friends down in central Dallas or Ft Worth are only dealing with rain. Same with the temperature differences..can be freezing up here while it's about 5 degrees warmer downtown or further south. The summers are pretty much the same temp-wise though..it's only in the winter where you'll see some major extremes.

True. Even McKinney can be almost 10 degrees cooler than I am in Garland. McKinney has been below freezing or at it several times already. Then once you hit Gainsville, Sherman, Greenville, etc. it gets much colder and they can get more snow, rain and ice than we do in the metro area of Dallas.

Very true Mom...I guess once you get out of the "heat island" of the metro area, then you really see a difference. We've had a few freezes out here too compared to the official reading at DFW Airport.

I am really enjoying the post August (Summer was brutal) weather in Dallas.
I came back to San Diego for the Holiday and it actually seemed too hot here compared to Dallas (90 degrees here, but cooling down).
I have to admit though, I am afraid of the 100 degree plus for 4 month period that I see coming in Summer 07. I keep telling myself that I must own a pool or have access to one, but as I look now at homes, the weather is so nice that I'm not worried about a pool.....I just know that will come back to bite me.

It's not always as miserable as it was this past summer, socketz. A couple of summers ago, we only had ONE day that hit 100...it was a nice summer all in all. A couple of years before that we also had a summer that maybe had one or two 100 degree temps so those type of summers do exist!! We also had a lot of rain which helped to temper the heat. But those hot miserable summers do come around every few years. The summer of 2000 was another miserable one akin to this past one.
And you're right..if anything, the fall and winter make up for it and you quickly forget how awful July and August were!! In fact, from what I hear, get ready for a very chilly end of week with highs in the 40s and lows at night in the 20s...how's that for spring heading straight back to winter!

So it seriously isn't that bad every Summer ? Scouts Honor ?
I mean, it was 'manageable', but I'd be sad if my kids could never go outside for months at a time, and when they did, had to look at everything dying.
I could deal with low-mid 90s for a few months.
The real problem with last Summer was that it never really cooled off at night.
