I have to be in Dallas for work for 4 months. The company I work for will pay for a 4 month lease. I'm 42, single and I have a large dog. I want to rent the highest end place I can find and not with college or just out of college students. I don't want a furnished place because I am a germophobe and I don't want to be using furniture and a bed that has been used for the last 20 years. I will get all my own stuff.
I visited a lot of places in West Village but I found it to be young. I visited Monterey, Alara, Oakwood (super disgusting, old, run down). I also saw Gables Katy trail (hardwood floors were leopard and drove me crazy).
I looked further south and visited Windsor trianon (seemed dark and dated and slightly run down).
The best of the lot was Ashton- seemed to be more of a 40's crowd and upscale. I am not a fan of what is currently available for rent though.
Called the Jordan but they won't do short term lease. I would like a building that has some social events for residents. Building must be upscale with professionals.
Any others I should consider? Price is not a concern. But I don't want downtown. Too concrete jungle and not enough to walk to.

Have you looked in Knox-Henderson specifically the Knox side of Central Expressway), the neighborhood just north of Uptown? It's skews slightly older and is quieter but still close to Uptown and downtown.

Try 1900 McKinney, Glass House, Sky House, 3700M... There's lots more. Stick to high rises as other than the Ashton, those are all midrises. 1900 McKinney has similar residents to the Ashton.

I should have mentioned I saw 1900 McKinney but it was a little too concrete jungle and into downtown. I have a dog I like to walk and it just seemed too busy outside that complex.

I think the ashton is the best bet in uptown. If you are willing to consider 5 minute drive from uptown (10 min to downtown) I would also consider Gables Highland Park at Lemmon and Lomo Alto or Pavillion Townplace at Lovers and Inwood.

Take a look at The Brady or The Taylor (Both along Carlisle next to the Katy Trail to take your dog on)

I'm just curious what leopard hardwood floors are? Sounds kind of cool to me!
