My family may be moving to the Dallas area for my husband's job. We have an almost 8 year old with HFA, Anxiety and ADHD. With that being said, she is currently mainstreamed and receives pull out services for speech, OT and social skills. We are coming from a very great district in the Philly area. Again, we are torn about finding a district in the Dallas area. We are constantly hearing mixed reviews. And then there is the issue of the commute for my husband who will be working in Downtown Dallas. We are looking at Plano, Flower Mound, Frisco and possibly Richardson. Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated.

Plano or Richardson. They are the closest to downtown. I would choose Plano as it is nicer.

I am curious what your friend had to say. We keep hearing mixed things about all of the districts and are having a hard time narrowing down areas.

Default Update

Hi. I’m not sure if you’ll see this. My husband is considering relocating for work purposes and we are in the same boat with our son. He is within the cognitively impaired group but high functioning. We are in michigan in a wonderful school district- both gen ed and special ed. They have multiple programs for varying needs and abilities. My son’s need are complex but he’s very capable. He is in middle school so I’m really thinking ahead for services now and later and as an adult(community for special needs adults).

Any experience and things you’ve learned with your move and the school districts would be so appreciated. I run a special needs moms group in my community and I know that’s really where the real knowledge about stuff like this exists.

Honestly, you should have started a new post rather than topping a 3-year old one, but that's beside the point.

Where will your husband be commuting to for work? The DFW area is HUGE and you don't want to have a lengthy commute here.
What's your budget for housing?
