I've seen them in North Richland Hills, but that's not the only area where they built them.

Arches do not look like a phallus any more than it looks like a old lady's breast. Some people.....

Here's the answer: a two story porch makes the roof cheaper to construct, allows a window to be over the grand 2 story entry way, and middle class people like arches- it makes it seem like the house costs more. See the windows are arched too in your example. Do they also look like phalluses to you?

5740 Talons Crest Cir, Fort Worth, TX 76179 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

What would you call it? "Personal massager" shaped? I am middle-class and to me it is tacky looking. It looks like a house desperately trying to be more than it is.

My house has minimalist entrance with a large porch (not two story). But I know a lot of people who like phallus style entry way. House style is like food. Rarely two people share exact same taste.

When we used to live in NC, there was this community next to ours which was center of a lot of jokes because of village style houses. Single Family Homes for Sale in Kitts Creek, Morrisville, NC - realtor.com®

I know some folks living there and loving their houses.

BTW I like the way you think!!!

This discussion seems to belong in the thread titled "creative".

MobiusStrip,
I think you might be sexually frustrated. It's a real thing, and you should take care of it. Seeing penises in everyday architecture can really be distracting, depending on which way you swing.

As for the houses: I agree, they're ugly. It seems this style is all over DFW, and I absolutely hate it. When you go in these houses, there are angles everywhere. Angled ceilings, rounded corners, vaulted ceilings with 8 different angled surfaces and the most aggressive knockdown texture in America. I don't know why DFW homeowners like this style. It looks dime-a-dozen and requires zero architectural creativity. I suppose some people think it looks upscale, but I disagree.....particularly when every other house on your block has some variation of the same design.

DFW architecture, specially tract houses need serious help. Builders just slap brick veneer on ugly boxes and call it a day.

Unique tract houses is kind of an oxymoron. Go look at the wikipedia page for tract housing. The pictures for Markham, Ontario and San Jose CA wouldn't look out of place in DFW.
