Hi, guys. I got one speeding ticket in Frisco last month, and got anther one 1h ago on George bush. I'm taking the defensive class now. I didn't notice the speed limit on George bush is 70mph. I drove at 83mph. I want to know what will happen then, how much will raise in insurance and what should I do right now? Hire a lawyer or just pay for it and let it go.. Anyone can give me some advice. Really appreciate it.

You can do a Deferred Disposition i.e. if u don't get ticket again in the same City within 90-days, ur ticket will not go into your driving history. You still need to pay the fine.

https://www.plano.gov/372/Deferred-Disposition

I got 2 tickets earlier and I did Deferred disposition for the first one and online Safety Driver's course for the 2nd one.

I got two speeding tickets within 90 days and just paid the fines. It did not affect my insurance rate.

By what stretch of the imagination did you think 83 mph in a city was okay? just for future driving, no highway in the DFW area has more than 70 mph as the legal limit. Parts of 635 are 60 mph. Most people on the DNT drive between 70 and 80, but above 80 is rare (I drive it to work).

This. I've gotten multiple tickets here (incl. a 105 mph on DNT) and just do the deferred disposition. Takes about an hour out of your day, but well worth it. Much less drama then other states.

Just beware of construction zones. You are NOT eligible for deferred adjudication or defensive driving in this case and it goes on your record no matter what. In your case, you should be able to do one of each and not have to worry about it going on your record for insurance purposes.

A couple years ago I was coming off the freeway onto a construction zone on a frontage road that is normally 45, was doing 48 per the officer's laser, and got tagged for 13 over since the work zone limit was reduced to 35. Granted, I should have been paying more attention but I drove that way often and my brain must have been on cruise control.

The price you pay (or benefit, depending on your perspective) for living in a safe and low-crime city is a heck of a lot of traffic enforcement.

Every normal person does 80 MPH or so on the George Bush. It's one reason why its such a nice road.
