Had to be downtown again this morning. Left Melissa at 6:15 and was parked at Field and Woodall at 7:15. That includes a Quick Trip stop.

To OP:
Because Google Maps only gives you the historical average time (within X standard deviations). It doesn't tell you how bad the worst days are (or how often/why they occur), or what the drive is actually like (all else being equal, I'd rather have a somewhat longer commute with smooth traffic than a shorter, jammed-up bumper-to-bumper one because the latter would be a lot more stressful).

Algorithms have a lot of short falls, and I've noticed Google Maps tends to act weird in places like downtown (where they have overpasses, etc.), and also Google Maps is bad a predicting patterns, i.e. let's not take into account this is the beginning of rush hour and traffic will get worse on this route, etc.

What I meant was, that people routinely come here to ask questions like "would it be OK to commute from Mansfield to Wylie" when 5 minutes looking at a map would answer the question. It's not about people wanting advice on the best way to make a reasonable commute, it's about people who don't even look at a map of the area to understand just how far Sherman is from Red Oak before considering a move.

I cannot live w/o google maps. I always use it. I could care less if I already know the route. Real time traffic updates is great.

I'd appreciate if you not let everyone know what us tech savvy people are up to. I don't need them slowing down my route.

I've never had a problem with google maps, the estimated arrival time is usually within a minute or 2.
