Jason Kidd returning to Dallas
ESPN - Sources: Mavs, Nets close in on Kidd deal - NBA
Anyone else excited about this? I was really sad when they traded him away the first time.

Yes! I am sorry, but I really think this is a bad trade that will only hurt Dallas.
I personally think Dallas is giving up way too much for an aging PG out of his prime. I really don't think bringing in a PG will help their chances of winning the West, especially with how big the West is now. Who is going to check up on Duncan, or Bynum, or even Shaq in the playoffs? It just seems like getting a PG shouldn't be their #1 priority, especially one out of his prime.
Dallas is also giving up so many people as well. The New Jersey Nets have agreed to send Jason Kidd and Malik Allen to Dallas for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George, Maurice Ager, two first-round picks and $3 million, sources have told CBSSports.com.
Just too good!

Yeah, as long as they don't get rid of Dirk, but Dirk needs to step it up. Besides, I hope the Mavericks DO get rid of Dirk, as they aren't my team.

Ugh. Kidd has got maybe 2 - 3 years left in him. Ager is basically a throw-away at this point, and Diop's contract is expiring.
The two draft picks hurt, but they were probably going to be late round picks anyway, and Josh Howard aside, probably weren't going to pan out that much (see: Ager).
I really like Harris, but he hasn't lived up to his billing. He was a panic draft pick when we really wanted Livingston (who went 1 spot before us to the clippers, and is now facing career ending injuries). Still, without Harris, we wouldn't have beaten San Antonio.
Either way, Terry has to step up his defense now. he's going to be the one guarding all the PG's. The Nets are supposed to buyout Stackhouse's contract, and he says he'll be back in 30 days.
Diop hurts us too. Now Dampier is the only legit man in the middle. Keeping him healthy has to be a priority. I don't want to see flashbacks of Nowitzki playing center ever again.
Either way, I think this is the team's attempt at exorcising our demons without hurting our core or Nowitkzi and Howard. We're still going to be good, but I don't know if we're going to be better. If we're not better though, When Kidd's contract clears the books (and we can get 20 million to play with), look out.

It's not a done deal because of Devon George. He's blocking it.
