I love Lakeridge and that area over by Joe Pool Lake. That is probably the prettiest place in Dallas County imo. I would check out downwinders org because of the cement plants in Midlothian. Lots of pollution in the air that can cause issues.

not true
the line about the cement plants causing pollution is simply not true. I live a stone's through from one cement plant and have nary a single issue related to my health.

Hey jakejester, I was told if anyone has lung sensitivity that you should stay away, I wish I had known that many years ago before making a decision to move that way.
I will tell you I lived in southwest dallas county for 10 years of my life. I was fine when I moved to Cedar Hill however after giving birth to my son I developed allergies and started a decline with getting bronchitus much of the time. My daughter was the first in the family to have lots of upper respitory problems but did not think anything unusal about my baby getting colds and having ear infections. She had several ear infections too and it was so bad that she got tubes. She also had gotten pneumonia too which shocked me but went on not thinking a thing about it. After we had made a move to our dream house ( still same part of town), she started getting bad and coughing out of control. Nothing seemed to click what was happening with her and she coughed for 3 weeks straight. I though was vigilant to take her to the doctor and did till I got some answers. It is amazing how the folks out at the clinic in Midlothian told me her lungs weren't getting enough oxygen in them and that it was asthma, even if it was just mild for some ( they saw quite a few). That was beginning of nebulizers for her and eventually for me. I can't begin to tell you how many people I knew on that part of town that were sick with lung problems many with allergies and allergies that produced infections in the lungs which for me was bronchitus. Often we would see each other at the allergy specialist doctor for our weekly series of shots.
I don't have all the figures but I have been told that there are more cases of asthma and related lung issues in southwest dallas county and I was told that by the doctors we saw in Midlothian which at the time was ECDC. Even after awhile, my husband started to get sick too and had come down with pneumonia. When I moved away, it was amazing because my whole family got better. It wasn't like magic and it all disappeared instantly but gradually we started to see breathing become much better for us and I became independent of my inhaler. I might have had to use it a handlful of times in 5 years when prior it could have been every day for the 3 years I lived on that part of town with my diagnosis. I have hence moved back into the state and in Mckinney. I was so worried about moving back and dealing with pollutants but I will tell you we have not had any major problems. Oh too my daughter once we moved never had any issues with her lungs and my son too has been in good health. He lived a total of 1 year on that part of town before moving and he too had bad wheezing and his little lungs just weren't getting the oxygen they needed when had a bad cold. Once we moved, he hasn't had any lung issues like he had as a baby.
When going to Midlothian south, the first cement plant you see, well if you turn on that road right by it and go down a bit, that is where my inlaws live. They haven't complained much but I do know that that they have had a few bouts with upper respitory infections since moving in and my youngest niece has a constant runny nose due to allergens in the air. My sister in law took the risk to live there because she felt her health is optimal. She works in medicine and told me too that people with lung sentivity or with a family history of lung issues shouldn't move out there. For me, I just don't ever want that to happen to me again. I felt that I was going to die at one point. I have yet to meet several people with lung issues in Mckinney like where we were at. Sometimes it is just genes and people with good immunities that can withstand that and I am glad you are ok, but know I wasn't ok. My body just finally broke down after the birth of my second child and I developed problems which coincidently another mother I knew who had just had her 2nd baby just a few months apart from me had devopled at the same time the same allergies. The sad thing too is that I did not see the connection of the plants so much for a long time till I realized I was breathing better once removed from the enviroment.
I often tell my husband ( we are christians) that i often felt like God physically removed us from there to save us from something. I often wondered if it was for us to get better.

I am not sure which school district Lakeridge resides in.
Most of Cedar Hill is zoned to Cedar Hill ISD.
Some of Cedar Hill is served by Duncanville ISD, while some of it is served by the Midlothian ISD.

What part of Cedar Hill is MISD???
Cedar Hill schools are supposed to be bad.
Midlothian, better.
Some homes in the WAY southern part of the Lakeridge area say Cedar Hill, but Midlothian ISD. Do they need to be south of the dallas/ennis county border??

I read your response with much interest. We live in Cedar Hill. I have been concerned over my family's health for the last 5 years. Lakeridge, in Cedar Hill is pretty with the hills and the lake nearby and the small town feel of Cedar Hill, less traffic etc.. drawn us here 5 years ago (from a crowded Carrollton). We aren't crazy about the explosive growth here and the increase in traffic. I am working out near Fort Worth now and plan to move to near Weatherford soon. Glad to hear ya'lls health is better.

Thank you ricwil What is upsetting to me is that is some of the most beautiful scenery in all of DFW and it is spoiled by TXU with contaminating the air. People like you and I were attracted to area to live and yet we had no prior knowledge of the issues there. Joe Barton is paid by TXU I am sure and they somehow got exempted out of a bill to not have filters on their stacks down in Midlothian. Everyone else has to but them. I think that is so sorry and voted for that man plenty of times and to know now he is really part of a racket makes me upset.
It is just sad.... if they didn't have all those issues, I would be over in that area you are in. I love Lakeridge, I love the trees and the hills. Just beautiful.

Should be moving soon . Sorry Cedar Hill, your a scenic slice of Hill country right in Dallas county but I must be movin on to cleaner pastures :
