Berkner is not a great school. JJ Pearce is the top high school in RISD and has many excellent schools feeding into it. Richardson HS is also good but I believe one junior high is significantly better than the other so do your homework if you look in that area.

Nothing in Richardson is very far from 75 so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yup.

If you're in the Pearce or RHS zones and you're in Richardson itself, the furthest you can possibly get from 75 is Coit Road.

It should also be noted that Coit Road at Belt Line is significantly closer to 75 than Coit Road at Campbell is. This is because 75 jaunts north and east as it runs through Richardson....so the further north you are on Coit, the further you have to go to get to 75.

Hope this helps. I think raw date is the best way to compare the different options. Richardson is a very solid School District and all of its schools out perform many of the schools in the suburbs. As an FYI Richardson has many students that Transfer to other schools within the district.

Is Westwood a zoned campus or a magnet? Does Richardson have magnet Schools?

Also, are the high schools 9-12 or 10-12?

As far as I can tell, there are three elementary school agents:

Arapaho Classical Magnet
Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet
Math/Science/Technology (MST) Magnet

Students in Elementary Magnets either:

- Return to their home school pattern
or have
- Choice with parameters of Richardson West Junior High Technology Magnet or Westwood Junior High Math, Science and Leadership Magnet.

Lake Highlands has a separate freshman center for 9th grade only. Apparently its administration is supposed to merge with LHHS starting in the fall.

Check out the Canyon Creek neighborhood, conveniently located off Campbell & 75. The neighborhood is split in 3 elem schools (2 RISD - Canyon Creek Elem & Prairie Creek and 1 PISD elem Aldridge) all are excellent and have extremely active PTAs and parents. All the homes are turning over from original owners to new families with lots of young kids that are using the public schools.
