Moving from Phoenix to Dallas...help!
I may be transfered to the Dallas and need to fing a good place to live that is safe and not too far from work. What areas should I look at and where should I avoid.
I am a single female 29 yrs old. I have never lived alone. I can afford $90,000 to $100,000 but would rather pay less (around $60,000 to $90,000). I am looking for a townhome or a house with a small yard. My new office will be near 8100 N Stemmons Frwy.
Thank you in advance for all your help.

You might want to look in Irving/Las Colinas (see realtor.com zip code 75062) for a townhome. Also, here is another thread on a good condo location within that zip code, Quail Run, address 4601 N. O'Connor Rd, which would be only seven miles to your place of employment:

Thanks for the info. 7miles is close! I was thinking anything under 30miles being close (which is what I do now).
What about this place:
156 creek cove rd
Dallas

Uhhh.... I'll make it brief... the area I gave you is upscale, safe and conveniently located... and this area you mention, zip 75217... is not!

You will be very limited to something decent in your price range, Las Colinas is untouchable in that price range, cannot even get an empty lot.
There are a couple of foreclosure townhomes in Richardson and 1 in Plano right now, a few more in Garland too.

Currently, there are 11 condos in Quail Run, in Las Colinas, under $100,000, shown on Realtor.com, zip 75062.
Here's the link to Google's map where you can zoom in to actually "look" at the homes... put in the address at the top of the screen to search map... and it'll bring up a street map... click on the street level view to see visual pictures of the area... to get to the exact address, click on the arrow in the middle of the street and continue clicking it until it reaches near the address desired... then you can use the left or right arrows to "look" left or right. This is really useful to "look" around the neighborhoods to get a feel for the surrounding area.

The OP has expressed a desire for a townhouse or small house with a small yard. She is not going to get any yard with a condo. Also, the HOA at quail run are between 240 to 350 a month which would raise her payments considerably.

Had the entire thread been read... and where the course of it went, it'd be easy to see where the posts went from zip 75062 with homes, to condos in Las Colinas (still in the same zip)... then about the townhomes in Dallas.
In addition, the HOA fees were stated in the linked thread forwarded to the OP in my first post as well, where, as you are already aware, they were discussed at length.
Again, these were my suggestions, and while I'm sure the OP would welcome several more, I believe that can be accomplished easily enough without any further negativity.

We are about to close on our condo in Quail Run and its going to be an even $100K...to me it should be more...there's granite counter tops and brand new everything. A few of the condos in Quail Run are outdated (we looked at about 15), but the ones that have been updated have been done pretty good. Las Colinas is a nice area and to be able to stay there makes me and fiance happy...we're both moving from Mississippi. The HOA fees bring our monthly payment up a good bit but it's about the same if we would have gotten a two bedroom apartment in Las Colinas...
