I've found the grocery stores and I've found the restaurants in the Carrollton area.
But where are the clothing stores, furniture stores, import emporiums etc that deal with Indian items? I found Silk Threads online but it seems be a high end by-appointment-only garment store. I'm looking more for Cotton kurtis for the summer and have a feeling Silk Threads caters more to the wedding / formal outfit crowd!
I guess I'm hoping to find a 'little India" like Devon street in Chicago where there are probably 50 indian shops on one street and you can buy anything you could want from India. Any tips??

Richardson Heights Shopping center in Richardson has several Indian businesses in and around it. There is a video place that specializes in Bollywood films, there are a couple places that sell saris and other clothing.

Heights is at Belt Line and 75. Most of the Indian places are on the north side of Belt Like in the smaller shopping center.

Yes, there are several on that side. But there is also an Indian grocery store, bakery, Indian-Chinese restaurant, and I believe a clothing store in the actual Heights shopping center.

Not exactly what you were asking for but you may be interested to know that there is an asian movie theater in Richardson called FunAsia.

FunAsiA - Theater - Banquets - Restaurants - Desipages

They show plenty of Bollywood movies there.

I just bought a sari for my daughter on the southwest corner of 75 and Beltline in Richardson. It says Sari's on the front of the store.. It is in a strip shopping center that hugs the feeder that goes north. There is also Bombay Sari Palace over by Party City, just the opposite corner of Beltline and 75 in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center.

Ah so Beltline and 75 sounds like the place to check out. Thanks so much everyone. I guess I'll check out Pier one, World Stock and the Great Indoors for Indian furniture. There is a small shopping center on the south corner of Trinity mills and Dickerson in Carrollton and that's where I've been going for groceries but they only have one small clothing store. Again, thank you for the responses.

bookworm, the store you're looking for is Taj Mahal Imports in that complex. Also, the video store is called Atlantic Video. The best Indian grocer in the area is actually in Garland, but the name escapes me. I'll see if I can get the name for you later!

There are also several "stop gap" grocers in Plano, which might be closer for you...
