Default Hebron High vs. Frisco High

Hello, I am narrowing down a search and focusing on these two high schools. I am moving from South Florida and am checking out the Frisco area, but am only considering neighborhoods in these two high school zones, Hebron or Frisco High.
I am looking for any info that you have to offer as to the academic and college prepatory classes and the overall feedback of the school. I have a daughter that is a die hard volleyball player and plans on playing througout high school and college if possible while the other is a competitive cheerleader and likes tennis and track as well, both are in advanced academic programs.
We originally were looking in Flower Mound because of the schools, but decided to open it up to Frisco as well.
Any feeback is appreciated!

If I were you I would recommend taking another look at Flower Mound. Flower Mound High School and Marcus High School both have excellent reputations for Academics and Athletics.

Frisco High School and Hebron High School are not bad schools, but Flower Mound and Marcus have more students matriculating to competitive colleges, less mobility, and more single family homes in their districts. Because of the explosive growth in Frisco they are still honing a lot of their programs and offerings, and their school system boundaries change so often that there would be more stability in course offerings and student population at Hebron, Flo Mo or even Plano schools.

Please excuse this long post...I just had to say something.

Hebron and Frisco both offer a quality education just like FM and Marcus. Some of the students may not have the family income that matches FM or Marcus but they still are just as hardworking if not more so. Sorry I had to say something.

Can't bite my tongue on this one. I'm a single parent and I have to take a stand on single parent homes. Single parent homes don't mean that the children are less capable. Maybe if you are in areas such as the inner city etc. but not as much in suburbs. Notice I say not as much. I happen to live in a nice area (Hebron HS attendance zone) and make sure my son has all the opportunities and positive experiences as many of my friends that are two parent homes. I also happen to be friends with a lot of people who raised their children in single parent homes. Most of these kids went onto Universities and are doing quite well for themself. My son will attend a University. I've talked about college since he was old enough to understand the word.

I happen to be a teacher and am realistic enough to know that we don't have a perfect world and there are some single families with less opportunities. I just believe that an education is what you make of it and that if you set your goals high and strive for the best anyone can learn, especially within quality schools. I happen to teach in a building where the students by sterotype should be low performing. However that is not the case. Many of these children perform way above the expected sterotype.

For the OP: Hebron and Frisco both have girl's volleyball teams and from my understanding have done quite well over the years. I recently had the opportunity to work with Hebron students at a school function my son's school had. I was very impressed with these students as they had integrity and were quite bright. All had plans to attend major Univeristies. Harvard, SMU, UNT, Texas, Tech, Oklahoma, and IU to name just a few. Many of them were in track, volleyball, tennis, choir, band, etc.

Oh, and Hebron is in the same school district as Flower Mound and Marcus. Many of the students come from the Castle Hills, Moore Farms, Homestead, Coyote Ridge, and Indian Creek subdivisions. I honestly don't think that parents who buy into these areas would be doing so if they were not expecting the same quality education for their children as is at both FM and Marcus.

P hope you find what is most appropriate for your daughter. I know finding the right school and community for our families is what is most important. Take Care.

Just to clarify, when I said 'single family homes,' I was referring to houses that house a single family on one lot as opposed to apartments, which are multi-family housing that can include as many as 400 units in a complex.

One thing I didn't like about the fact that some of the housing in Frisco fed into Hebron High is the distance the school was away from Frisco (I think it was like 6-8 miles). I think they are both good schools, but you would be on the road, driving further to get to school social activities, sports etc. If your kids rode the bus, it would be an earlier pick up and longer drive in the morning and then back home again. Sounds like your kids are active in school sports, so I thought I would bring that up.
