Yup, Lake Ridge is what I was thinking....Is it a good area to raise a family and crim wise??

I agree, uptown and downtown areas are great...I lived in both and they are both great (currently live downtown). As it's been mentioned before, you also might want to look into Arlington around UTA (cooper or matlock and i20) and also the area around SMU (mockingbird and us75).

There is little crime out that way and its a great area to raise a family. What I am not sure is what schools feed into the area. Someone more knowledgable with schools should chime in shortly.

Help... I have a blind date this Sunday - he wants to meet at my house, which I don't think is a good idea. The problem is that we are both really new to this area and don't know our way around very well... nor do we know of any places in between our towns. He's in Rockwall, Texas and I'm in Fort Worth, Texas... that over 75 miles distance between us... so I was thinking someplace in between would be good???

You've probably already decided where to meet by now, but if not:
Downtown Dallas is about half way between Ft. Worth and Rockwall. You might look into meeting at a restaurant in the West End.
