Unless you are in an area with a municipal co-op, I believe you should be able to choose from any of the other providers. Although keep in mind that a lot of the other providers are just resellers and will still be using TXU equipment. I'm surprised that you aren't allowed a choice where you are at. Unless you are in an apartment.

Actually, every retail company uses TXU(Oncor) equipment in the the Oncor areas here. But yes you should be able to choose in las colinas unless you are in an apartment or muni-coop.

To my knowledge, most, if not all, Frisco residents have to use CoServ for electricity and gas. It is a cooperative and the rates are reasonable, but obviously, a lot depends on how you set your thermostat and how well-insulated your house is...as well as its size.

It depends if you are in a coop or not. My mom is in Frisco and does NOT Coserv and never has. When I lived in Frisco I did NOT have to use Coserv (I used TXU then it was 1998-99).
