Y'all are talking about Mount Auburn. It would be great to see the Craftsman bungalows there restored, but a lot of them are really beyond help. There are no restrictions, the homes/lots are cheap, surrounded by expensive homes and amenities (New East Dallas Veloway/Tenison Trail, Randall Park/Junius Heights, Hollywood Heights, Samuell/Grand Park (Shakespeare Festival), Tenison Golf Courses, etc...Mount Auburn Elementary is usually recognized and often exemplary.

So forgive the run-on but a lot of RE people think Mt. Auburn will go tear-down.

Okay, so I have ruled out Parkdale but I am still considering Claremont. I will focus on trying to stay 3 to 4 blocks off of both Highland and Ferguson. If anyone has anymore info on this neighborhood please let me know. Their neighborhood association web site offers nothing. I plan to drive it again this weekend to see if I can make sense of it.
Thanks again.

Also does anyone know if some of the development west of Lakeland and East Ferguson will continue to move south towards Highland.

There's a group called the Ferguson Road Initiative - they may have some info on new building going on. So far, I haven't heard of any of the apts being torn-down....they certainly could use it, though.

Thanks for the link Pepper. It is good to know that there is an organization pushing to improve the lower Ferguson corridor. If they can get that library and rec center built at Ferguson and Highland that would certainly help to make that intersection more attractive.

Also, besides the Minyards, is Casa Linda the closest grocery shopping in the area?

What???...and get rid of Mike's Tires and the Hot Food Convinience store that is also handling neighborhood tax returns???

I live up Ferg a bit more near Lakeland, but I have never, EVER shopped at that Minyard's. Minyard's is the worst grocery. There's an Albertson's at Casa Linda, but still...they don't really have anything. I drive up to SuperTarget at Skillman and Abrams and Whole Foods Lower Greenville for groceries. There's also a WalMart Neighborhood Market up Ferguson at Gus Thomasson.
