We're almost empty nesters and looking for a condo/townhome/house w/in walking distance of shops/restaurants/bars. My preference is 3 bedrooms (or atleast 2 w/ flex space). We really like the downtown Plano area and downtown (?) Addison, but Canyon Creek was okay too. We want to be w/in 20 minutes of hubby's office which is in Richardson near Plano and Campbell Roads. I didn't care too much for the area built in/around the big State Farm complex. Any other places we should check out?

How about Las Colinas?

She said she wanted to be within 20 minutes of Campbell & Plano in Richardson. Las Colinas doesn't fit the bill.

I would think that north to Allen Waters Creek, Campbell & 75 corner, or south to Park Central (or whatever the place across from Northpark Mall is called, or small chance west to Garland Firewheel Mall. That's pretty much your only choices.

You could check out Heights Park & Richardson Heights in southwest Richardson. They're not condos/townhomes, they're older houses (mostly 3-2s) but many are within walking distance of Heights Shopping Center. Not exactly Addison, but it's something.

Oh my.... I checked out Residences at The Highlands near Mockingbird Station.
A bit out of the price range, which of course, I realize I didn't state up front. I didn't mainly bc we haven't decided. Bc of kids in college, we are considering maintaining two homes - one in our home state and one around Dallas. Not sure yet - so 1 house or 2 (condo/whatever) will dictate how much we spend. This is likely not a long term move - not sure yet - maybe 5 years. Maybe renting is an option as well.
