Central Market has an awesome collection of wines and at very good prices. There are PLENTY of wine drinkers in the Dallas area. LOL!!! On recycle day I see more wine bottles in the bins than I do beer bottles (or is that because we have built in kegs for the beer ). Even our local SuperTarget has a pretty decent wine selection. If you are into the wine tastings try Tony's. Several of the higher end steak places pride themselves on their wine selections. Personally, I love Pinot Nior.

The Grape, that's it. Thanks 940 , I could not think of the name of that place.
It may not look like we drink a lot of wine but we hide it pretty well, . We like to refer to it as "strained grapes" if we are having "lunch" while the kids are in school.
Yes, there are still some dry areas. I guess growing up here it never really bothered me. I would always know the person in the grocery store looking around lost was a newbie so I would stop and ask them if they were trying to find something. Yep, the beer & wine. So I could easily give them directions to the nearest wet area. While the wet/dry laws are changing it still has issues. There are few areas to buy hard liquor. Most of the suburbs that have approved beer/wine sales do not allow liquor sales. Liquor sales also end sooner in the evenings than beer/wine. Years ago when we still had the Texas Blue Law you could not sell/buy beer before noon on Sundays. So for the liquor you still have to make a trek to some area that sells it. Buckingham in Richardson is one such area. As is Mobile City out in Rockwall County. There are some areas w/in the Dallas City Limits that sell liquor - Walnut Hill Lane off of Stemmons, some areas around and off of Greenville Ave, spots along I30.

momof2dfw..I forgot about those old Blue Laws. I still remember the grocery stores years ago as a child. Certain aisles blocked off with barriers b/c you weren't allowed to buy those items on Sundays. My mother used to always complain b/c she never could understand why panty hose (among many other things) were not allowed to be bought on Sundays back then!

If Starbucks would have some shots to add to their drinks I would go there more often. I'm not a big beer drinker at all.
Oh yes, no pantyhose on Sunday's. That always stunk. You'd have a run in your hose on the way to church and could not stop to get some. I can't say that I really LOVE the way it is now. I kind of miss the Blue Laws, in a way.

In Lexington County in South Carolina you were restricted from selling general merchandise for more than 6 hours on Sunday. Stores would then delay opening until noon or 1pm to allow for the most shoppers during their store hours. But there was either no restriction, or a longer period for grocery sales. So your local WallyWorld would open at 'O dark thirty, with half the store literally roped off.

It was one of the items that was forbid from being sold on Sunday's because of the Texas Blue Laws. Yes, some aisles in the grocery stores would be roped off or the shelf in particular w/ certain items would be covered. It never really bothered us and I guess growing up w/ it you got used to it. You just got all of your shopping done during the week. The retailers are the ones that really pushed to abolish the Blue Laws because of the holiday shopping they thought they were missing out on. Actually they never really made any more money/profit by being open another day as people just waited to shop on Sunday instead of Saturday. For the longest Sunday's were always VERY slow at the malls because everyone was used to getting their shopping done on other days.
I was always blown away as a kid when we were on vacation in other states and the stores (department, drug, malls, etc) were open on Sundays. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Then we got rid of our Blue Laws, but w/ restrictions. The malls/department stores and such did not open till noon and closed at 6. Then I soon went to work in retail - YUCK!!!!!!!

D Vine Wine
I can't believe I forgot this place, omg. D'Vine Wine of Texas. They have a store in Garland in the new Firewheel Town Center. Great wines. You can go in and have a glass (or 2, 3...... ). Buy a bottle and drink it there and they will recork it for you to take home. You can have custom labels made be it for one bottle or 1000. They have live music on some nights. Here is their website:
