My fiancee and I are considering a move out to the Dallas area. We previously lived in NYC, don't have kids except for two small dogs. My work will most likely be based in Plano area. She will likely be looking for a job once she gets there, but she works in corporate retail (buying). Ideally, we would like somewhere safe, walkable (but not full of chain restaurants/shops), within (hopefully) 30-40 minutes commute of my jobs. I have saved a fair amount of money, but the real estate tax in Tx is still a little shocking.

Our good friends live in uptown and we have been focusing on oak lawn, turtle creek, knox-henderson areas. We would be very grateful for any recommendation

TIA.

Are you looking for apartment/townhome complex recommendations in Oak Lawn/Turtle Creek/Knox-Henderson? Or recommendations for an area to live? If the former, I would recommend contacting an apartment hunting specialist - you tell them what you are looking for and they can get you a list of apartment/townhome options with current prices. There is no charge to you for this service. If you send me a direct message I can recommend someone (I don't think we're allowed to give recs out on the forum).
