Not familiar with new development and tax increases. Anyways, bought a new development house in 2015. As of today 2017, the neighborhood is still selling because it's a big development, almost done.

Anyways, property tax has been increasing steadily +8% YOY, more than any other home properties I own. Not sure if it's because it's new or still building out or what.

Is there protest-able? I'm assuming no, because since it's still selling, the newly built houses are selling for a lot more than what I paid for.

Please advise.

You can protest in 2018 (during the protest timeframe). The worst they can do is say, "no".
Mine has initially increased 18% and 22% respectively. 8% is well below the curve so I would recommend putting together significant evidence to the contrary.

Please elaborate what type of evidence you recommend. If you are asking for comps, since my neighborhood is still selling brand new homes, my house's value is still below comps.

Comps would be houses built when yours was, not new houses.

+/- a couple years is still considered a comp

But if you must insist, all houses next to me built same year are also increasing 8% YOY

You can base it on anything. Photos showing your flooring is carpet compared to sold home that has wood floors, etc. Any difference in materials/quality of either land or home. Take photos of your views compared to others, lot location, traffic patterns etc. Lots of ways to demonstrate reduced value.
If you have the nicest house on the block, you won't stand a chance.

Any resales you can show for comps?
Prices have gone up 8-10-12% in many DFW areas the past 2-3 years.
You may be out of luck to protest in many areas if not most areas.
Remember if you protest the CAD also presents evidence and your value can go up.
This year panel I presented to wanted pictures to show why my house should be valued less than others....more so than the sales price evidence I showed.
