You might look up around Mountain Springs. The Ranch has 5 acre lots and at the Lake parks there are riding trails. You will have trees there, too. It is about 20-25 minutes north of Denton by Lake Ray Roberts.

I saw an ad for a small turn key horse farm in Aubrey, north of 380, for 250k. Maybe you can find something north and affordable. All the "horse people" I know (like people from work) all live south - Kaufman, Kemp, Crandall, Midlothian, down those directions.

look SW of the FW area. when we were looking there were some places in the North west school district for about 300k for 5 acres in "equestrian community" with trails etc...

I think if you push you 45 minutes to downtown you should be able to find a nice place for 250k...around Cleburne etc..

There are quite a few horse places around Whitesboro.....saw several For Sale signs on them when we drove thru there yesterday on Hwy 287 (the same signs were there when we went thru in July last year so there may be some bargains by now.) It's a nice area, rolling hills, oak trees, good schools. You might check the real estate listing in that area if it's not too far out.
