I have looked at renting houses but that seems like it's going to run me at least $1,400 a month.
Coming from Colorado Springs, I could see that. $1,400-$1,500 is pretty standard for centrally located apartments in decent areas in DFW now, though. For a 2 BR anyway. I assume you have enough stuff that you would be getting a 2 BR anyway, since you seem to have also considered renting a house?

I have tried looking for houses to rent but I don't seem to have any luck. If I am going to pay $1,400 however I would much rather find a house to rent.

Private schools by their very natiure are not held to same standard regarding special need students unless they choose to make the effort/accomodation

Right but I think the point was that if you teach at a place like Winston or Shelton, you could make money on the side from people whose kids have different needs but aren't willing/able to shell out $30k+ a year for school. And the fact that you teach at the premier schools for learning differences would be the reason you get hired to tutor.

I totally get that. I could be way off here, but I had heard that even if you are at a private school, you can qualify for the majority of loan forgiveness programs if an official at the school certifies that your position is to teach learning disabled or other special needs students.

That's not true. Homeowner prices have appreciated faster than apartment values. And she is single. No 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in a decent neighborhood will be as pricey as a home in a decent neighborhood. Now if you are talking Uptown/Lake Highlands/North Oak Cliff, Legacy in Plano or Addison, apartments are pricier there. But i'm in the Lewisville/Coppell/Grapevine area which has more affordable apartment stock. If she is works in Tarrant county or around Denton, she will be even better off.

Does anybody have an idea on how long the fingerprint process takes if you had to mail them in? I know that in Colorado they won't began the application process until they have the fingerprint results in. Is it the same in Texas? I have submitted all required documents but it said that it takes about 12 weeks to process. I submitted everything last week via express 1 day mail.
