Me and my family are coming to town the first week of July. Looking for some ideas of things to do or events that are going on. We are staying at the Gaylord in Grapevine, I think my daughter will have a blast at the pool there. I do already have Kaboom Town and the stockyards on my list of things to do. Also my daughter is 4 years old and yes we know it will be hot.

Dallas World Aquarium. Well worth the price. There is a 3 story enclosed bird and animal habitat with a path that winds down. Monkeys, birds, alligators at the bottom. Several places to get food inside. There is a tunnel you can walk through with sharks next to you and overhead. Fascinating for all ages.

Dallas Arboretum Children’s garden (in the am before it’s too hot)

Klyde Warren Park and Center for Creative Connections at the Dallas Museum of Art to cool off afterwards.

Fair Park has a small aquarium that is nice for young children with touch tanks and low displays. The Texas Discovery garden with butterfly habitat is next to it.

Hope you enjoy your visit!

Thanks for the ideas, my family and I are really looking forward to the trip. Which zoo would be better Dallas or Fort Worth?

Dallas is the better zoo, but they are both good.

Fort Worth had the reputation for a long time while the Dallas Zoo languished. The Dallas Zoo has rapidly turned its repuation with some outstanding exhibits and the advantage of having its own light rail stop. Both are close to their downtowns and are bus accessible. If you don't have to see large cats or the larger mammals, the Dallas World Aquarium is a good alternative that is all indoors.
