Default Prosper, McKinney, or Melissa?

We have no need to be near Dallas proper, and my hubby is either going to be working in McKinney or Frisco.

I am not a Frisco fan at all, so where is a great area to live for small children and young families? I will stay home, so I would like other young moms around and places for the kids to go.

So what are the pros and cons of Melissa, Prosper, and McKinney? Schools? Retail? Melissa has great priced homes, but how long to get to even a grocery store?

Thanks!

If you are a young Mom with kids who doesn't work, then Frisco is the place for you.

We helped my in-laws buy at house in Melissa and they love it. Melissa is a little smaller, and has some very nice subdivisions. The prices are considerably less than in McKinney. I think their same floorplan/builder costs
30-40K more than in McKinney. Melissa is just about 7 hwy. miles from the nearest Super Target located on the north side of McKinney. My sister-in-law says it's quicker to get to the store now, than it was when they lived in McKinney and driving in traffic. Prosper is also nice and a little more upscale. Expect to spend around 300K or more for a nice home. Some homes on acreage there can be very costly. The Prosper school district is smaller for now, but Prosper will most likely blend into Frisco in the next 5-10 years. To me, McKinney is not much smaller than Frisco. The traffic may be a little better in some locations, but not that much better. All the areas you mentioned are not bad. If you want to get away from the traffic and have money..Prosper might work. Moderator cut: real estate agent solicitation is not allowed in the forums.Blessings, Amy

If he is working in McKinney or Frisco then live in McKinney (since you said you don't care for Frisco). McKinney has all that you need, restaurants, good schools, nice neighborhoods, downtown charm, nightlife, etc. Look into any of the neighborhoods in Stonebridge ranch. They have lots of amenities and are close to everything. Good luck!

Melissa and Prosper didn't have much of a population until recently. Things will be either very old or very new there. And you'll likely end up going to McKinney or Frisco for shopping/services.

Those areas (plus Anna and others) are starting to build up, so the spacious, uncrowded feeling probably won't last long. I'd probably check them all out and make a drive to the grocery store before you decide.
