Boy, you are seriously deluded. How does saying that Plano has a far greater level of city services than Dallas constitute Dallas envy?
My theory is that Lakewooder is really just a bot, programmed to add "OMG, Lakewood is the BEST!" to every single thread, relevant or (usually) not.

Oh, we've got a couple here on these boards. In every single thread they'll make an appearance, and you know exactly what they're going to say: http://www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...ml#post4312869 .
Gets somewhat pathetic after a while, but it is entertaining.
With that said, some of the posts are getting a little hostile - no reason for that. We can take jabs at each other without being too ugly.

Plano, McKinney and Allen can't even raise any money for an Arts Center..meanwhile Dallas has the largest of its kind with four Pritzker-prize winning architects..now what were you saying about city services?

The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts is a new multi-venue center for performances of opera, musical theater, classic and experimental theater, ballet and other forms of dance. The campaign to build the Center has a goal of $275 million, with more than 93% of its funding coming from private sources, and is scheduled to open in 2009.

That's certainly a cool building. Not sure how much the City of Dallas is paying to put it up - my guess is right around, oh, ZERO! How is that a "city service"?
Besides, we don't need one in the northern 'burbs; we can just use yours.

True but I always get people saying I am envious of their suburb - so I thought I would try it out on them

True, Dallas's art center is amazing. But each city has it's strong points. Plano's extensive recycling & yard trimming program puts Dallas's to shame.
FYI....Collin County is actually building an Arts District in Allen, so there's hope...see link.

a clean city with very few traffic problems, and roads that don't have crazy potholes + a commitment by the police to solving the 'broken windows' of crime + having places like the TMC, Oak Point recreation center + having an amazing youth sports program + a city council that's not insane + a school superintendent that's hasn't been indicted >>>>> performing arts center.
The lack of a performing arts center is not a function of Plano/Collin County as a terrible city, but a lack of population. If Plano were a million people, we'd probably have an arts center. Most cities that size do.
A performing center that I would potentially visit once a year (if that) versus the other things that I state above....hmmm...what to choose, what to choose.
