Default West Plano: Where exactly is it? What makes it so great?

I hear a lot about West Plano. The way people talk about it, it seems that it is an entirely different city. How is it defined? Is it based on the high schools? Is it the newer area? From what I can tell, it seems that home prices are a little more than some of the rest of Plano. Thanks in advance!

It's the newer, "nicer" , more expensive part of Plano.

It's the nicest area of Plano for sure. They have great schools, great homes and great amenities. It's the number one option for most people who are relocating to Dallas.

The homes in West Plano can be a great deal more expensive than typical Plano real estate. The neighborhoods there are newer, but many are also built to be highly exclusive and very upscale. One plus side of living in West Plano is easy access to the Dallas North Tollway for commuters. Plano West is a great high school but so is the Plano school system in general. I would never wish to give the impression that West Plano schools are reason alone to move there.

Here's a great link that provides neighborhood info for West Plano. HTH!

I would define West Plano as George Bush to Legacy going South to North, and then Ohio to Tollway going East to West.

West Plano is popular because it's convenient to dallas, but has great suburban amenities - close to three malls, high-end dining, great schools, and a lot of organized recreational facilities.

All of Plano is actually like this, but West Plano is the most popular because the houses are newest there.

Default Normandy Estates in West Plano-approved to be Gated!

Normandy Estates of West Plano is the first Gated community in Plano for over 10 years! City of Plano approved Normandy Estates in June 2008. Great location off Tennyson/Midway & Spring Creek-west of D Tollway. The roads are now paved and building begins in Sept 08. Mike Peckham Custom Builders have great lots for sale-along with many custom luxury builders for estate & villa homes. Townhomes too! Estate homes are in Plano ISD!

West Plano is the part of Plano that many of the bitter people on these forums wish they could live. Just pull up any random thread, and you'll find one of 4 or 5 of the same people posting something negative about it. It has become very humorous to try to guess how many posts it will take for one of them to show up; in fact I'm shocked they haven't visited this thread yet.

You'll know them when you see them because of their empty, pathetic, and baseless cheap-shots.

West Plano is a very, very nice place to live.

I would change the Western boundary to Midway or even Plano Parkway.

"West Plano is a Sterile Suburban Nightmare.

Did I say we are all doomed?

Doomed I tell you!

Repent!!!

Move down to Uptown and save yeselves! Its the only place that will survive the coming EcOsPaSm!"

Laughing pretty hard over that one. But I see it more like this:

Member A: "What is the best BBQ joint in West Texas?"

Bitter Dallasite: "I don't know, but I do know Plano sucks"

Bitter Forum Member From Another Suburb: "Well enough about you, my town is the best, regardless of what the subject of the thread is, and I'm going to prove it by going to every single thread in this forum and jacking it to tell you that I live in _____ and it is the best city ever in the history of western civilization. Oh, and Plano sucks."

I swear one day I'm going to be in the NY forum, and I'll be reading about Upstate hiking, and I'll find a post saying she lives in _____ , Texas, and it is the best city since Atlantis. And Plano sucks.

Oh, and I'll never use the ignore button; I'd miss out on all of the humor.
