We are moving to Coppell from CA. please give some ideas about the place. I was searching apartment/condo/townhouse nearby by coppell elementary schools, but I don't see much options. Valley ranch elementary doesn't have space so that our options are cottonwood elementary/lakeside elementary.
* Would like to know which one is good with academic and also has more Indian kids?
* Also would like to know any renting place has good Indian population around that school boundaries?
* How about lakeside apartment and Avalon townhomes?
* Also our work place will be Southlake, so how will be the traffic in peak hours? is it manageable to travel everyday between coppell to southlake?

Please help us to find the good place with best school. Thanks in advance!

Anywhere in the Valley Ranch/Coppell area will have a lot of Indian people, and lots of Indian kids in the schools.

Those of us who post here frequently often have very little info about specific apartment complexes. You might consider using an apartment locator service to help you find a place to rent. Their fees are paid by the apartment complex, so there is no cost to you.

Coppell/Valley Ranch to Southlake will be a decent commute, probably around 30 minutes in traffic.

Both Coppell and Valley Ranch have significant Indian populations, though Coppell isn't quite as high while Valley Ranch is a majority.

As long as you are renting in Coppell ISD (make sure to double check this), you will be fine. In general, homes/apartments in Valley Ranch west of MacArthur Blvd. are zoned to Coppell ISD. Apartments in Valley Ranch will likely have a slightly higher Indian population. All Coppell elementaries are great academically. Choosing between them is splitting hairs. Those physically closest to Valley Ranch will have the highest % Indian population. Valley Ranch elementary is the highest with about 83%. Lee Elementary is also up there with 79% Asian. The rest range from 30-50%. You can find the demographics on each elementary's website. (Go to "About Us" then "Demographics). Cottonwood Creek is 44% Asian. Lakeside is 40%

I think Lakeside and Cottonwood are the overflow schools, but if you rent in an apartment zoned to a school that does have space, you could still end up there. My daughter goes to Austin and I don't think they are 100% full right now.

However, next year all the elementary/middle schools are going through a rezoning process, so where you are this year may be completely different from next year. I assume the new boundaries will be announced towards the end of the year, but I couldn't say for sure.

Regardless of which school you end up at, I think you will find the community welcoming.

Las Colinas Elementary is majority Indian. It is in Irving on the south side of 635 and west of MacArthur. A high performing elementary school in the Carrollon-Farmers Branch school district. It serves several apartment complexes.
