I'm soon moving to Dallas area. I wanted to know where most Bengali and Indians go for grocery shopping. I already know about the INDO-PAK market but I was looking for more places in case I have to get an apartment in the Dallas area that is too far from the INDO-PAK market. I also wanted to know about some Mosques around the Dallas area for Bengali Muslims who don't live in Richardson or Irving. Some of the Zip Codes that I'm considering other than Richardson and Irving are 75243,75231, 75240,75229, 75220. Are these good areas ? where I will find Bengali/Indian/Pakistani community? My father is old so he likes to talk to people from community, go to the mosques and stuff. Are public transportation available in these areas? We have cars in our household but just wanted to be closer to the Public transportation in case of unwanted situations.

Thanks for reading. I will be really grateful if anyone can help me with some information.

I don’t know about Dallas but nearby Carrollton and Richardson seems to have lots of South Asians, Mosques and Indian/Arab grocery stores. Same goes for Plano, Frisco, Irving, Allen, Coppell, Southlake, Murphy.

An Israeli friend recently moved his old parents who had similar requirements of being near their place of worship and socialising with people they had things in common with. He told their realtor to narrow it down to walkable areas near jewish centres and they found an apartment which works well for them. His dad can still drive on slow speed local roads but have some religious preference for walking on certain days.

You can do the same, google worship centres in your targeted zip codes, call and ask for recommendations for apartments within walkable distance. Your realtor should be able to find a unit there for you.

I just found World Market in Richardson on Floyd Circle. Huge Middle Eastern supermarket with butcher and foods from all over the world. Fresh produce was not the best, but I think you can find just about everything else you could possibly want. Friendly people.

Mosques....there are a few scattered around in other places, but Richardson and Irving are ground central here. There's one in Frisco, one in Colleyville, one in Plano. I'm sure there are others around. Most are not really walkable though. Irving probably is your best bet at Valley Ranch. Plenty of apts, easy and as safe as anywhere to walk. Heavily Indio/Pak, but people from all over the world. A handful of eateries I'm sure a couple are hallal. At least two Indo/Pak stores I know of.

I'm in 75243 and I am one of like 3 non Muslims in my neighborhood. I am across the street from the very edge of 75081 (Richardson) and 2 neighborhoods there with similar demographics. Though you said no to Richardson already, note that 75243 where I live, and that you mention, is damn-near Richardson, and is in Richardson schools. City of Richardson is WAY better to live in than city of Dallas, as I have lived in both.
In this neighborhood, you cannot travel 2 blocks without seeing some sort of halal store, as well as Indian, and nearly every other country from Africa and Asia...and it sounds like you may already know about the mosques in the area.

I think it's actually called World Food Warehouse. The place hasn't changed a bit in 20 years... same old depressing dimly lit interior. They take the "warehouse" part of their name a little too literally. Back in the '90s a lot of Desi peeps from Richardson and parts of Dallas had to go there, because of their halal meat needs and spices (albeit limited). But with the never ending expansion of DFW northwards, came so many stores catering specifically to Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani customers. I stopped going there as soon as the IndoPak in Richardson & Plano opened. It is still frequented by middle-easterners I'm sure... just not Desis.
