Question Best Apartments in Richardson/Garland area

Hi!

I am going to be moving to the Dallas area in July and need to rent an apartment. The only problem is that I will not be able to come to Dallas to look at apartments beforehand. I am hoping that someone can tell me what the best apartments in Richardson and/or Garland are and why?? I have looked at a lot of them online and some have bad reviews at apartmentratings.com but you never know what is really the case! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Stacy

We rented at Seven Oaks in north Garland about 2 years ago and it was a nice place. We didn't have any problems with noise or rude people, the management was good, apartments in good condition, etc.

Sevenoaks as mentioned above located on Campbell and Hwy 190 (saw signs out for them yesterday about specials they were running). Stoneleigh at Spring Creek on Naaman School Rd off of N. Garland Ave just a block from Hwy 190. These are all popular in the Garland & Richardson area w/ some units having a garage. The Stoneleigh is closer to more stores such as SuperTarget and restaurants. The newest is Parkside at Firewheel. Located at Firewheel Town Center (outdoor mall) they have townhomes, condos and apartments. TONS of options to walk to shop, dine and the movies.

I live at Sevenoaks, and it is very nice here. They have Sunday Brunch once a month, and sometimes have get togethers for singles. There's a nice little wooded area with a foot bridge on the property. There's also a pool, and a gym here. Kroger is literally next door, and it a quick drive to SuperTarget, Walmart, Petsmart, 2 Starbucks, and several restaurants.

Apartmentratings.com isn't too reliable. The last complex I lived at wasn't awful, but it needed some improvements. It had a near perfect rating on there, and anytime anyone posted otherwise the manager got her friends to go on and rig the rating.

Thank you very much for the info so far, so Seven Oaks is one to look at but what about these?

Cutter's Point
Advenir
Arboreteum
Madison on Melrose
Equinox

Any info would be great because I will need to make a decision soon! Thanks again!

The only two I know much about are Equinox and Advenir. A friend of mind was going to move into Advenir. Like a lot of places they don;t show you the actual unit you will be living in. She was all set on her moving day, and the apartment was so bad she backed out. It's not in a bad part of twon, but the complex itself is home to a lot of undesirables. I used to live down the street and I remember calling the police one night. I told the dispatcher my address was an apartment complex on Shiloh road, her first words were "is it the Pavillion?" (Advenir used to be called the Pavillion) Anyhoo, its not a slum, but theres a reason its so much cheaper than other apartments in the area.

Equinox is almost across the street from Sevenoaks. There's a nice park right next to Equinox with a pond and walking trail. It's a pretty new complex, maybe 6-7 years old. I have personally heard several people recount stories about the management being inept, and doing such things as "losing" people rent checks. They have changed management since then, so things are probably different. The location is great because you are a stones throw from 190, and about 5 minutes from 75.
