Hey - just wondering if anyone can recommend popular restaurants/bars/places for meeting people in the area? What are popular hangouts? Thanks in advance!

Deep Ellum has kind of taken over as the hotspot in Dallas proper. Every time I’m down there I see a new restaurant. It’s also very walkable and there’s enough people out and about it feels really safe walking around to explore now.

Uptown seems to be transitioning to more of a dining destination than a nightlife destination. I haven’t been down there in a while but I like Moxies.

Bishop Arts is still always busy.

The Design District continues to add more stuff. Bishop Cidercade is cool if you like old games.

Lower Greenville Ave is great for brunch. Uptown and Knox-Henderson are also very popular hangouts

What are you looking for? How old are you? How much money do you make?
Hotspots might depend on each and more?

Without knowing any of that...I'd say... Rodeo Goat, Meddlesome Moth in Dallas.
Addison Ice House in Addison or the Londoner.

Hi Lynn - I’m a corporate lawyer, if that helps - single, early 40s. I am interested to know popular hangouts, wine bars, restaurants, etc. when I’m there. Where would be a good place to take a date? What about a place to mingle after work? Thanks!

Around 2015, Uptown took a more ghetto turn. The Shell Shack restaurant's opening started to bring out more of a ghetto element. Tate's at the corner of McKinney and Worthington definitely was attracting a ghetto element for a while, not sure if it still is. The Den, which closed in January 2018, was a popular hangout for ghetto people. All of these occurrences made Uptown as a whole more dangerous at night and less appealing. There are still spots off of McKinney that are ok, but Deep Ellum has taken over the pole position as the place to be for nightlife at this time.

Armory D.E., Black Swan Saloon, The Green Room are options to look at in Deep Ellum. Those are places I've been but I was more active on the scene during the Uptown era.

Candleroom on Henderson Avenue has been a hotspot since the early 2000s. Wednesday night is the most known night for Candleroom. Candleroom can be difficult for men to get into. I've been able to get in, but it can also be noisier.

OP-don't forget that you can approach women in the day time. I've done more of my approaching during the day over time. Grocery stores, malls, coffee shops, Katy Trail, White Rock Lake, a gym you may join/fitness classes-these are all ways to meet women without the late nights at bars with noise, blockers, and alcohol. I'd also pass on using Tinder or Bumble as well. It may seem efficient but it is an illusion. Lots of one & dones result (one date, no sex, no future in-person interaction), which are generally a waste of time. You definitely need to be out meeting potential dates in person first, whether you are doing it in the bars or at non-bar venues.

Thanks - I appreciate the reply! I am actually not looking for places to meet women in Dallas (I don’t live there but at one time thought a relocation may be necessary). That said, I still have a few clients there and may have reason for an upcoming personal trip, too. So as I mentioned, I was looking for a good place to take a date - not a good place to find one! And also - wine bars, etc. that would have a good professional crowd and atmosphere to take a client and/or mingle after a day of work when I’m in town. Thanks again!

Mercy Wine Bar in Addison is a good date spot.

A few spots with a sizable black clientele does need mean Uptown took a more ghetto turn.

Just read his other posts. Straight up racist, misogynistic, and wondering why he has no luck... insert eye roll.
