Default Carrollton

After more research and reading through different threads, Carrollton seems to be a nice place.

Does anyone know what the commute would be like to Love Field? Also, as my wife is a nurse, are there any nice hospitals in that area?

Thanks in advance for the info, God bless

At what area of Carrollton are you looking? Some of it's nice, some if it is not so nice.

My brother lives in Carrollton and likes it. He's been to the hospital at Josey and Hebron (can't remember the name right now) and we had a good experience there. The staff was all very pleasant to work with, from our end.

There are some not so nice areas, though.

Not sure of the commute to Love. I think he said it's about 35 min to the Infomart, for him, though (coming down 35).

Second that!!
We live in Carrollton and have lived in the nice and not so nice areas, The city website says that it was rated among the top 10 safest cities in the US in 2007 by CQ Press. Here's a quote from the city website:

"CQ Press, a division of Congressional Quarterly Inc., has ranked Carrollton as the sixth safest city in Texas in its 2007 Safest City Award rankings. This independent news-gathering and publishing firm, located in Washington D.C., publishes an annual listing of City Crime Rankings based on six crime categories as reported to the FBI by cities of at least 75,000 residents. The categories include: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft. These crime rates are then measured against the national average to determine ranking."

Not sure about the distance to Love Field but I think Trinity Medical center is not too far from here and its only a short schlep to Plano Presbyterian Hospital.

Default commute

You are looking around 40 minutes give or take, depending on traffic. Probably longer with traffic. The problem is that there aren't a lot of neighborhoods near Love Field. Unless one of the posters on here knows some great areas to live in Dallas proper that are less expensive AND safe?

Carrollton is a great place to live. I really don't know these "bad areas" that people have mentioned. They have a great library, parks, etc. It is very established. You would probably want to stay in Southern Carrollton because it can reach as far as Plano, which would be a killer drive to downtown.

You may also want to look at North Irving/ Valley Ranch for a commute to Love. This is a very nice area. Just don't look at Irving -Irving.

Carrollton like many of the areas in the Dallas area has it good and bad. I personally wouldn't elect to live in the south portion. I prefer the northwest section of Carrollton.

You can't do wrong in the northwest or northern part of Carrollton. Look into areas around the George Bush Turnpike and east of I-35. Even parts of east Carrollton are pretty good.. You can get to Love Field in 25 minutes or so without traffic; 30-40 with traffic.

Default Good Place

If you are looking for a nice quiet place, Carrollton is it. We have lived here a few years in two different locations. We had a house in a little older neighborhood (old custome homes with huge yards) and decided to go for a new townhome. Have enjoyed both! The scholls are suppose to some of the best (don't have kids, just what I hear). The town home we bought is right down from Trinity Medical, there is also another hospital not too far in Lewisville. Hope you enjoy it, we are moving back down South (Got a townhome I'll sell ya LOL).
